In early 2000 when Prof. Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah (piano & vocal) returned to Indonesia from Europe for good, while preparing to found a Music Academy, she formed a harmony vocal quartet with her sister, cousin, and a professional singer. Besides to have fun with the quartet, her main purpose with the group was to re-introduce the Indonesian Folk’s and Children songs with new vocal harmony arrangement to the people in Indonesia. 

From 2000 until 2004 Daya Swara performed at Jakarta Four Seasons Hotel, Regent Jakarta Jazz, and the annual Indonesia Open Jazz to name a few. Daya Swara took a break in 2004 due to their full commitment with running “Institut Musik Daya Indonesia” (IMDI) music academy that’s founded by Prof. Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah in 2001. 

After IMDI was finally established and are able to run with a solid team of faculty and management, Daya Swara became active again. Their repertoire includes original Jazz compositions with Soul & Pop style as well as rearranging cover versions of popular hits from the 50s until now. 

Daya Swara quintet consists of Niken Astria (sopran), Donny Destino (tenor), Meilita Kasiman (alto), Tjut Nyak Deani Daudsjah (alto), and Alexandro Subianto (baritone). For Motion Blue Jakarta, their performance will be accompanied by Philiphus Tjahyadi (drum) and Ferdinand (contra bass).
